Clyde Walkway improvements completed
Published: Friday 21 August 2026
Improvement works have been completed on the Clyde Walkway between Mauldslie Bridge and Crossford.
The council’s Countryside and Greenspace Team worked with an external contractor to replace stairs and boardwalks, realign pathways and replace fencing to ensure that the route can be enjoyed for many years to come.
Head of Facilities, Waste and Grounds Services, Andrew Stokes, said: “The Clyde Walkway is one of Scotland’s Great Trails, offering a varied 65 km (40 mile) route from the bustling heart of Glasgow to New Lanark, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
“This trail follows the River Clyde, guiding walkers through a mix of urban landscapes, peaceful woodlands, and historic landmarks.
“It’s fantastic news that this stretch has been improved and will provide a great asset to the many people who use this stretch for walking, cycling and other activities.”
